Increasing Sale Leads For Your Domain

As we covered in our blog post titled 'How To Sell A Domain Name', one method of selling a domain name is to do it yourself. Most domain owners would probably like to increase their sales leads without putting a large “for sale” notice on the main page of their site. Even if your domain isn’t necessarily available for purchase, increasing your sales leads isn’t exactly a bad thing. After all, when the price is right everything is for sale.

Through the simple use of a contact page dedicated to sales leads you can increase your leads by up to 25 percent. Specifically, the contact form should include space for the inquirer to submit his or her name and e-mail address. You may also want to request additional information such as phone number. Lastly, the form should leave room for a “make offer” section that allows browsers to submit an offer.

Somewhere on your site create a hyperlink that reads something like, 'This Domain May Be For Sale.' Connect the link to your contact page or a page dedicated specifically to sales leads. When a contact form is complete and submitted, direct it to your e-mail for review. One of the most popular free e-mail contact form services is - WuFoo. They make it very easy to create a contact form with no programming knowledge required. As a matter of fact, it is the contact form service I personally use when trying to sell my own domain names.

By adding a contact form to your site, you open up the possibility of gaining leads from individuals who are not familiar with the WHOIS record system. If you really want to get creative (and are savvy enough to pull it off), or have several domains to monitor, you can arrange for the leads to submit directly to a database system. The system can track statistical data on leads such as the amount of leads generated, offer amounts, and contact details. This information allows you the ability to estimate the worth of your domain name(s), which can be invaluable information during purchase negotiations with a potential buyer down the road. Again, setting up a database of this caliber depends heavily upon your computer skills and your desire to track leads.

Selling a domain yourself can be a very profitable. Contact forms, like the ones provided through WuFoo, make it easy. Once you have your contact system up and running you will be able to see what interest there is in your domain name as well as its potential worth. This is exactly the kind of information you need if you want to get the best price possible.
